Trend We Love

Nothing takes a wedding from drab to fab like gold. A little bit of gold leafing can go a long way. Consider using it on something ordinary to up the chic level. Using fruits in wedding decor, like pears, pomegranates and pumpkins, has become pretty popular. Make yours unique and unexpected by using gold leaf. A simple buttercream cake gets a glam makeover with some edible gold paint. And you can easily DIY gold mercury glass by adding in a little gold leaf. It is a simple and chic update that will add loads of style without loads of effort.

Inspiration Board: Romance in Peach

While a lot of winter weddings are white and bright, I really love this soft and romantic take for winter. Some sweet peaches and creams paired with gold make the perfect whimsical winter combo. For centerpieces go with small and lush arrangements and ruffle lined table numbers. Add some literary charm with some book escort cards. Accents of velvet and gold give richness and depth to the whole feel. For the bridal look take on a lovely ruffled number like this Christos. Pair that with some bling glitter gold heels and a fun statement necklace and you are well on your way to winter whimsy perfection.

Guest Post on The Sassy Bride

Today I am guest posting over on The Sassy Bride! I created a glamour filled gold inspiration board for Larissa while she takes some much needed time off to spend with her hub. Here is a little sneak peak, but head on over to The Sassy Bride to catch the full board!

Inspiration Board: Autumn Orchard

I love the idea of a beautiful orchard wedding for the fall! Take cues from the scenery for your color palate: warm reds, oranges, and golds. A lush bountiful bouquet really makes a statement, and this bouquet is the perfect fall arrangement. Lots of textures and colors keep the rustic feel while still being elegant. These little fruit menu pouches are just divine! Such a great way to incorporate your venue and is an easy and simple DIY project. Keep with the orchard theme by giving mini pies as favors. I love packing them in these sweet vintage boxes wrapped up with twine, such a cute gift! Go rich and natural with a chocolate buttercream cake. It looks just as gorgeous as fondant and your guests will love it so much more! Keep your look simple with this darling J. Crew gown and a charming gold necklace, and autumn never looked better!

Inspiration Board: Golden Wheat

We are now officially in fall! And I thought I'd ring in the season with a golden wheat inspiration board. A rich and rustic gold is one of my favorite colors for autumn! I think this oversized bow bouquet is the perfect fall arrangement. So natural and effortless. I love fall weddings with family style tables. Fall is all about warmth and comfort and arranging the tables this way makes everyone feel right at home! Plus, it is the perfect excuse to make these amazing hanging mason jar candelabras! These things are ingenious and can totally be DIYed if you or your guy are the crafty type. I also love an understated eleganance look for autumn brides. This J. Crew gown is so stylish and chic! Pair it with these fashionable Alexis Bittar earrings (that totally have an acorn vibe!) and you are set for one fabulous fall wedding.

Inspiration Board: Girl with a Pearl Earring

Today's inspiration board is a little different. I decided to create a wedding inspired by Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring painting. I have always loved 17th century Dutch painting, I actually did my final project at school inspired by it. When I spotted this stunning cake on Martha Stewart, I realized a Vermeer inspired wedding was entirely possible. Rich, romantic, with hints of glamour, this board is like a dream! An old rustic chapel would be the ultimate ceremony location, filled with dark wood and gold gilded goodness. This storybook invitation from Minted is utter perfection! Then serve rich and hearty food to play into the era. Now onto the look: I love this elegant and lush one shoulder gown by Carolina Herrera! And of course, you can't go without some stunning pearl earrings. This pair from J. Crew is a fabulous option that is sure to leave an impression!

So I am dying to know what you all think!
Would you ever plan a wedding with a theme like this?

_______________

And because I love my finals images so much I thought I'd share some with you!
The top is a self portrait and the bottom a still life, both inspired by the gorgeous natural light and glow of 17th century Dutch paintings.

Hope you all enjoyed this! Maybe there will be more art inspired wedding boards in the future!

Inspiration Board: All Neutral

Neutrals have been really popular of late, and I couldn't be more in love with it! Those soft grays and tans are just too sweet! Today's inspiration board celebrates all that is girly, romantic, and earthy. Start off with a rustic venue, like an old barn or a charming wooden church. When using neutrals, lamb's ear in your bouquets and florals are a must! These soft sage gray leaves are so dainty and add so much texture. For your look, choose a dress with lots of soft layers like this Vera Wang. Go natural with the hair and makeup, pinning it back with a beautiful clip like this one from Twigs and Honey. And then check out these shoes! Just too stunning for words! The perfect choice for the bride wanting something soft and sweet!

Inspiration Board: Sweet as Honey

When I saw this amazing new gown from Vera Wang, I fell utterly in love! What a beautiful color! Neutrals are really in right now, and I am enamored with this sweet honey shade! And what better way to do a honey themed board, than with lots of treats! Serve delicious chocolates, caramels and shortbread cookies as a candy bar. Or, hide your caramels in cute little favor boxes tied with ribbon! Once I found this cuff by Kate Spade, it was pretty much meant to be! I love her whole bee inspired collection! It's the perfect way to tie together a theme!

Inspiration Board: Seafoam and Meringue

The other week Ever Ours (a lovely little blog you must check out!) held a giveaway from Ink and Button (whose little lovelies you might remember from here). I love Ink and Button's adorable fascinators so of course I entered! An extra entry was given to those who created an inspiration board inspired by the darling gem that was being given away. So, this is what I came up with!

I really love the fascinator's beautiful geometric quality. The way the felt is folded creates all this circular repetition, which is what I played into. These charming meringue cakes mimic the felt flower perfectly! As does this exquisite gown by Vera Wang! I brought in that little bit of gold, and again geometric repetition, in the accessories. Love this tiered necklace from Anthropologie and this jeweled clutch from Net-a-Porter!

Sadly, I did not win, but I still love this board inspired by the piece and wanted to share it will all of you!

Inspiration Board: Grecian Goddess

Seeing these exquisite grecian crowns from Pomp & Plumage really got me in the mood for Greek! How lovely would it be to have a Greek inspired wedding? I'm totally feeling these rich burgundy and gold hues! I love the idea of using urns as centerpieces. Fill them with fruit instead of flowers for a lush arrangement. Obviously, the food would be the main event! I see lots of olives and good wine! And the grecian goddess look is a total winner! I love the simple elegance of this Vera Wang, and the equally enchanting Amsale bridesmaid gown!

Inspiration Board: Golden Peach

Light, airy and utterly classy, peach and gold is a fabulous combination! I love using these hues for a sophisticated dessert reception. Along with a fabulous cake, serve other delicious goodies like gold leafed macaroons and cool fresh sherbet. Add in an elegant and glam invitation like this peach chandelier by Wiley Valentine. I am completely smitten by this little white dress by Amsale! So adorably Audrey! It's the perfect dress for creating a sweet and chic soiree!

Inspiration Board: Rustic and Natural

While I like my share of glitz and glamour, sometimes a nice down home feel is what I need!

I'm loving this simple and stunning gown from the Vineyard Collection! It has that perfect understated elegance for a rustic affair. This sweet bow necklace from Anthropologie would be a lovely accessory or a great gift for your girls! If you are going for that earthy feel, a hairpiece from Whichgoose is a must! She creates beautiful natural clips and vines crowns that ooze romance! Layering textures like in the table runners and your bouquet adds some interest and sophistication. And of course no homespun celebration would be without some delicious pie! I really love the idea of different pies for centerpieces, it saves money and would be a fun treat for your guests!

Inspiration Board: Glamourous Pink and Gold

Today we are pumping up the glitz and the glam with this fabulous pink and gold inspiration board! I envision an elegant evening affair for the bride who likes to stand out from the crowd!

I am so enamored with this stunning stenciled cake from Martha Stewart Weddings! (It actually was the inspiration for my own wedding cake!) It just has this beautiful modern, yet vintage quality about it. The table setting by Martha is equally beautiful and elegant. I adore these heels by Kate Spade! They are classic, yet have a fun twist with the snake skin. Vera Wang's blush wedding gown is so lush with its fabulous layers and ruffles! And of course, pink sugar rimmed glasses are a must!

Inspiration Board: Black and Gold Glam

Today I created the epitome of rich, glamour-filled color combinations: black and gold. There is something so dark, sexy, and sophisticated about this palate! I wanted to make this board a blend of old world opulence and modern details. I was really inspired from this phenomenal rose necklace by Kate Spade! I mean how much more glitzy can you get?? Well, this shoe shot by Leigh Miller pretty much takes the cake, it is just too fabulous! I'm loving this stunning gold headband by Ban.do instead of a veil. This lush bouquet by Martha Stewart Weddings is a dream! Put it all together in a luxurious gold-leafed ballroom and it will be a dazzling celebration your guests won't soon forget!

Inspiration Board: Art Deco Glam

This week I created a glamourous art deco board inspired by this gorgeous Jenny Packham gown. A palate of silver, gold, and black create a sophisticated vintage affair. I'm imagining a fabulous space with sparkling chandeliers and vintage details like a type writter for a guest book. A glowing gold piéce montée in lieu of a traditional wedding cake adds that final glamour touch.

Inspiration Board: Rosey Posey

This board is all about the rose. I love the idea of not only using the color rose, but incorporating the layered petal look throughout your whole wedding. I feel this Amsale gown (top left) shows this perfectly. You can have texture and pattern be your "theme", rather than a particular style. Enjoy!
